A Call to Action for Those Who Send Emergency Alerts
The highest magnitude earthquake (4.8) in more than 100 years, had its epicenter in New Jersey in April, 2024. And the alerts from local government, were all over the place.
The earthquake experienced today (4/5/24), did result in a massive outpouring of emergency alerts from local officials – mostly through their public-facing text-messaging and e-mail alert systems such as Everbridge, OnSolve, AlertMedia, etc. – rather than through governmental systems interconnected via the Integrated Public Alert & Warning System (IPAWS).
